San Luis

Field Studies was born in San Luis Obispo in 2022 with the mission to share the magic of the outdoors surrounding SLO and California with as many of their fellow students as possible. 4 years later, we’ve grown to serve more than a thousand students every year, while keeping the same idea since the start: create more community and nature lovers.

With a home base in Central California, the options for outdoor exploration are limitless. On any given weekend, you can find Field Studies members camping in Big Sur, skiing in Tahoe and Mammoth, mountaineering in the Sierras, bikepacking Montana de Oro, and venturing into boulders of Joshua Tree. With multiple trips running every weekend, it's an endless array of adventure that awaits anyone who is a part of the Field Studies community in SLO. 

While trips take students far and wide, there’s nothing more precious to us than our own neck of the woods. During the week, you can find us hooting and hollering at bike nights, hosting free BBQs for members, playing hacky sack on the beach, and putting on events to help foster the beautiful community that we participate in. We also go to class occasionally.
